Don Harron is one of Canada's most extraordinary talents, a modem "Renaissance Man" whose entertainment career includes achievements as an actor, writer, broadcaster, comedian, speaker, and producer. Don Harron has made thousands laugh with his alter ego characters -especially Charlie Farquharson. Charlie was first introduced to Canadians in 1952 at The Spring Thaw - a revue in which Don has been involved since its creation. Since then, Charlie Farquharson's career has been almost as impressive as Don Harron's. Don has worked in revues and television, presides at conventions, has made a number of albums, is the author of several best-selling books and had 18 seasons as a star of the long-running TV series Hee Haw. Don Harron began his illustrious career speaking at banquets at the age of ten. By the age of 11 he had made his radio debut, and except for an interruption during World War II, has never looked back. Don Harron has been present and actively involved in the launching of almost every major landmark in Canada's cultural evolution. Don's voice was first heard on CBC radio in 1936 - its first year of public broadcasting. Don performed at the Stratford Festival's legendary inaugural season in a lead role opposite the renowned Alec Guinness. In television's first season, Don was actively involved in almost every facet of the medium - from starring in dramas to writing a comedy series. Don Harron's distinguished theatre career as an accomplished stage actor began in Toronto and has taken him to all the world's major stages including the Stratford Festival, London's West End and Broadway. Don has worked with many of the great names in theatre including Katharine Hepburn and Christopher Plummer. In his capacity as a writer, Don Harron has books, plays and radio & television scripts to his credit.
